Just a reminder that your local library is awesome! Here are the upcoming events happening at the Salt Lake City Library branches for people of all ages:

Monday, June 3rd :

  • Book Baby
    Age: Babies and toddlers
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 11:00 AM-11:30 AM
    Enjoy telling your little one a story in an interactive environment!
  • New Readers Book Group
    Age: English speaking adults
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 2:00 PM every first and third Monday
    This group is made for English speakers new to reading. The group is a safe space to gain better reading skills!
  • Code Club
    Age: 8-18
    Location: Marmalade Branch
    Time: 4:00 PM-5:30 PM
    Learn how to code at your own speed! Salt Lake City Libary employees are there to help you because they’re AMAZING.
  • Microsoft Word I: Basic Skills and Formatting
    Age: Teens, adults, and seniors
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 5:30 PM-8:30 PM
    An introduction to Microsoft 2013! In this technologically advanced world, understanding of Microsoft Word is a must. Learn some free tips and tricks!

Tuesday, June 4th:

  • Crafty Kid Tuesday
    Age: Kids and Tweens
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 10:00 AM-11:00 AM
    Craft time every Tuesday! All craft supplies will be provided.
  • Story Time in the Park
    Age: Kids, toddlers/babies, and families
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
    Feel the sun in your face and the grass on your skin as you listen to a story in the park. Great activity for families and for kids to get all their wiggles out!
  • Bilingual Story Time
    Age: Kids, toddlers/babies, and families
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 6:30-7:00 PM
    Enjoy learning song and stories in both Spanish and English! A perfect place to practice your Spanish or feel right at home, and learn about different cultures!
  • Rumi Poetry Club
    Age: Adults
    Location: Anderson-Foothill Branch
    Time: 7:30 PM-8:00 PM
    Join other spiritual poetry fans monthly to read your favorites and discover new favorites!

Wednesday, June 5th

  • First Wednesday Book Discussion
    Age: Adults and seniors
    Location: Anderson-Foothill Branch
    Time: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
    This group meets once a month to discuss the latest fiction and nonfiction books. You’ll discover new things to read and probably make a new friend or two. Maybe you’ll even start that book club you’ve always thought about.
  • Craft and Brown Bag Lunch 
    Age: Kids of all ages, families of all sizes
    Location: Anderson-Foothill Branch
    Time: 11:00 AM-1:00 PM
    Make crafts, enjoy lunch, and the sunshine! Bring your own lunch and the library will provide all the supplies.
  • End of School Party 
    Age: K-12
    Location: Glendale Branch
    Time: 12:00 PM-3:00 PM
    School is officially out! Celebrate with outdoor festivities and tasty snacks!
  • JudgeMent Call–Robot Edition
    Age: 11-18
    Location: Anderson-Foothill Branch
    Time:  2:00-3:00 PM
    The JudgeMent Call Robotics Team is showing off their cool new robot and explaining what it takes to create one!

Thursday, June 6th 

  • Zumba Kids
    Age: 5 and above
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 2:00 PM-3:00 PM
    Come jiggy iggy iggy over to the library! The work out is enough to warrant a flightless nap time!
  • Teen DYI
    Age: 10-17
    Location: Glendale Branch
    Time: 2:30 PM-5:00 PM
    The first step to being independent is learning how to do things on your own. The Public Library is a perfect space to learn some new skills!
  • Tweens vs. Teens Video Gaming Tournament
    Age: 8-18
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 3:00 PM-6:00 PM
    Friendly competition never hurt anyone, right? There will be prizes for winners and snacks for everyone who attends!
  • Garden Yoga
    Age: 12 and up
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 6:00 PM-7:00 PM
    Stretch out the days stress at your local library! FREE yoga class for members of the community. It’s okay to start your New Years Resolution in May!

Friday, June 7th:

  • Preschool Dance Party
    Age: 3-7
    Location: Marmalade Branch
    Time: 11:00-12:00 PM
    It’s always a good time to dance it out!
  • Teen Night
    Age: Teens
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 4:00 PM-5:00 PM
    Every week is a different activity designated toward teens interests. They get the space to mingle and learn something new!
  • Family Story Time
    Age: Preschoolers and family
    Location: 3:30 PM-4:00 PM
    Time: Chapman Branch
    Spend some time interacting with your little one in an educational environment!

Saturday, June 8th:

  • Teen Zine Team
    Age: 12-18
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 2:00 PM-4:00 PM
    Teens need a place to be teens! The library has a perfect place for them to express themselves creatively through zines!
  • Summer Writing Workshops 
    Age: Adults
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 2:00 PM-4:00 PM
    Any kind of writing is welcome at this workshop! Need someone to look over your poetry to give you the validation you need? Or maybe someone critiques your resume? This branch has got you covered!
  • Simple Steps for Starting your Business
    Age: Adults
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
    Members of the group will meet with mentors to help kick start your small business!
  • Comic Workshop
    Age: Teens and adults
    Location: Chapman Branch
    Time: 3:00 PM-5:00 PM
    Meet up with other comic artists, gain inspiration, and create! Collaboration is key. The workshop is for all experience levels.
