The public library exists for everyone to enjoy! It doesn’t matter your age, if your single, or one of seven children. There is something catered towards YOU at your local library. Summer is here to stay for a while, which means you probably have more time on your hands than you know what to do with.

Take a peek at what the SLCPL events are centered towards entertaining this week!

Monday, July 1st

  • Playtime 
    Age: Babies, toddlers, & preschoolers
    Location: Anderson-Foothill Branch
    Time: 10:00 AM-11:00 AM
    Sometime during your weekly stroll at the library with your kiddos, stop by playtime and mingle with other parents while your kids make new friends!
  • Parenting the Love and Logic Way
    Age: Adults
    Location: Anderson Foothill Branch
    Time: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
    Free courses to help parents raise children in a calm and loving environment!
  • Art Afternoon 
    Age: Kids
    Location: Glendale Branch
    Time: 3:30 PM-4:30 PM
    No better way to start the week than letting your kids creative freak flag fly! All supplies will be provided.
  • Create Better Health
    Age: Teens, adults, and seniors
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 7:00 PM-8:00 PM
    Food $ense is back to teach you how to prepare a balanced meal on a budget!

Tuesday, July 2nd

  • Crafty Kid Tuesday 
    Age: Tweens and kids
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 10:00 AM-11:00 PM
    Let the kid’s creativity run wild during craft time at the library! All supplies will be provided.
  • LEGO at the Library 
    Age: Kids and family
    Location: Marmalade Branch
    Time: 3:00 PM-4:00 PM
    LEGOS are a great way to get the mind moving! Every month the library picks a new theme for kids to build creation around. Go check it out
  • Yoga Storytime and Songs 
    Age: Kids and family
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 11:00 AM-12:00 PM
    This is yoga like you’ve never seen before. Kids will stretch their bodies and go on adventures during this interactive yoga class! A great way to keep the whole family active during the summer.
  • Teen Craft 
    Age: 11-17
    Location: Anderson-Foothill Branch
    Time: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM
    Everything is more fun when there’s splattering paint involved. This week teens will create their own galactic notebook!

Wednesday. July 3rd

  • Scales and Tails 
    Age: Kids
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 12:00 PM-1:00 PM
    See and touch live reptiles! Everything from snakes to turtles. Come learn something new!
  • Adventures in Space 
    Age: Kids
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
    Time for some hands-on learning! Bring your kiddo to the library to discover how to create their own slime and build their own rockets. Don’t forget about photo booth to capture their time in space!
  • Marmalade Sewing Club 
    Age: 13 and above
    Location: Marmalade Branch
    Time: 6:00 PM-8:00 PM
    Have you always wanted to learn how to sew or need a refresher course? The SLCPL has you covered! There will be sewing machines and a mix of supplies. You can also bring your own project.
  • Match: Igniting Creativity Through Art & Literature 
    Age: Teens, adults, and seniors
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 6:30 PM-7:30 PM
    The Utah Museum of Fine Arts is collaborating with SLCPL to talk about things art and books! Each month will be based on a different book. Come engage in conversation and meet new pals!

Thursday, July 4th

  • Garden Yoga 
    Age: 12 and above
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 6:00 PM-7:00 PM
    Before the fireworks, come stretch your arms to the sky! This class is suited for all levels.

This is the only event scheduled on the 4th of July! All SLCPL are closed for the holiday.

Friday, July 5th

  • Preschool Dance Party 
    Age: 3-7
    Location: Marmalade Branch
    Time: 11:00 PM-12:00 PM
    Let the young ones dance the wiggles out! If they really want to get groovy, kids can grab props and instruments!
  • Family Storytime 
    Age: Preschoolers & family
    Location: Chapman Branch
    Time: 3:30 PM-4:00 PM
    After picking out a book, head on over to family story time! You’ll have a silly good time hanging out with the whole family!
  • Teen Night 
    Age: Teens
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 4:00 PM-5:00 PM
    Every week there are new activities for teens to enjoy! Feel free to bring a friend and be open to making new ones!
  • Teen Video Gaming
    Age: 12-18
    Location: Day-Riverside Branch
    Time: 4:30-5:30
    Every week join the library for games and snacks! Games are on a first come, first serve basis. Make sure to get there early!

Saturday, July 6th

  • Escape the Room 
    Age: Family
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 11:00 AM-1:00 PM
    Bring the whole family together to solve a mystery and escape a space-themed room! Everyone’s brain will have to work together to solve the puzzle!
  • STEAM 
    Age: Kids, tweens & teens
    Location: Glendale Branch
    Time: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
    The SLCPL is providing an environment to keep the kids sharp over the summer in science and math-related fields! This week is all about coding.
  • Dog Day Afternoon
    Age: Kids
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
    On the first Saturday of every month, kiddos can practice their reading skills…to pups! The SLCPL wants to make sure everyone feels comfortable reading books in front of others, including dogs. Come hang out in the positive learning environment!
  • Garlic Harvest 
    Age: Teens, adults, and seniors
    Location: Main Library
    Time: 4:00 PM-5:00 PM
    Come learn how to harvest garlic! The SLCPL planted garlic last fall that’s finally ready to be harvested!
