Health fair offers free screenings, fun for kids

A health fair at the University of Utah is offering free health screenings as part of a Be Well Utah event on Saturday.

The event is a Family Health Fair. Anyone who comes can receive screenings for glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol level. There will also be vision screenings.

The event will be at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

To support a child’s healthy lifestyle the event will offer activities for kids.

Kids will have a chance to meet play games, learn about healthy activities, and meet characters from a number of PBS kids shows.

To support a parent’s effort to maintain a healthy family, the event offers guidance geared toward adults.

The Family Health Fair will offer instruction on healthier cooking skills. Food knowledge will be put into practice with a variety of cooking demonstrations.

The event’s sponsors are planning giveaways and games for kids and adults.

Participants will get a chance to hang out with the Utah Jazz. Kids can climb aboard emergency vehicles. There will be an AirMed helicopter for kids to check out.

Parking for the event is free. There will be no pets allowed in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The health fair will be located at 451 South 1400 East.

The event lasts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 24.
