“The Stranger Things” is coming to Springfield, sort of.

The annual Halloween episode from The Simpsons’ has some of the best material from the shows’ thirty-year run.

The Halloween special allows no-holds-barred Springfield comedy.

Anything can happen. Bart is a twin? And the Bart we know is the evil twin? Cool.

Homer goes 3D and ends up in the real world with its real cakes. Let’s do it!

Anyone can die. And then come right back after the commercial break.

This year, the cast of the The Simpsons spoofs Netflix’s stranger things.

Lisa will take on the role of Eleven, with signature buzz cut and nosebleeds.

And it must be said: A near-bald Lisa Simpson is indistinguishable from Maggie.

Perennial Springfield oddball Milhouse takes on the role of Will Byers.

A true Springfield homage will both honor and mock the source.

The show also mocks the 1978 Warren Beatty film “Heaven Can Wait.” The parody will be another part of the Halloween special in a part called “Heaven Swipes Right.”

The Best Picture that many of us didn’t see, “The Shape of Water,” is parodied in “When Harry Met Slimy.” The connections to “When Harry Met Sally” won’t be missed.

Here’s to hoping that Homer and company tears the show apart. Pick apart the inconsistencies and honor the clever in these shows.

We will know it’s good if the Halloween special makes us want to binge on The Stranger Things all over again. Which we were going to do anyway because it’s Halloween season!
