John Krasinski will be hosting a virtual prom for students who are missing their own, tonight!
John Krasinski took it upon himself to give high school seniors a prom to attend, despite school closures from the COVID-19 pandemic. Hundreds of schools have closed for the year and are taking to virtual learning because of the COVID-19. As a result, many seniors are missing out on important moments like prom and graduations. With John’s new virtual platform, “Some Good News,” he decided to take matters into his own hands.
In one of the show’s segments called “What’d I Miss?”, he was constantly hearing about how teens are missing their prom nights.
John took to Twitter to announce his idea. “Ok ok… so one of our favorite segments on @somegoodnews is “What’d I miss?” And I just can’t take it anymore how much all you guys are missing prom. So let’s do something about it! Let’s have an #SGNprom !! Yup, I’ll DJ with some friends live on YouTube. Friday 8EST/5PST!”
While it is unclear who else will be joining John for this virtual prom, I can’t but help to picture “Jim Halpert,” his character from The Office, DJing at prom. It is bound to be an entertaining night. Stream the event on the “Some Good News” YouTube channel Tonight April 17th, at 8 pm EST/ 5 pm PCT.
John launched the “Some Good News” to shed some light on the positives stories surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. He showcases amazing stories of generosity and support for our hardworking medical professions. He has hosted interviews with The Office co-star Steve Carrell and a zoom performance from the original Hamilton Broadway cast.
