Before she performed the song, she told CNN that the song was written months ago, in honor of the heroes in her own life.

Alicia explained, “It has always been such a personal song and such a poignant song. And every time I play it, I want to cry because I’m thinking of my mother, I’m thinking of my grandmother, I’m thinking of friends of mine who can’t make ends meet.”

“A lot of times people don’t feel like they’re doing a good job. They feel underwater and like there’s never going to be a brighter day,” Alicia added. “Fast forward to now, with where we are now, and it’s almost like the song was written for this, and I didn’t know it.”

She shared her live CNN performance on her Instagram. In the social media post, she included some additional words of gratitude for all the unsung heroes working hard to keep our communities safe during these unwavering times.

She captioned the video: “I wrote it for all the people that work so hard and never hear the words “Good Job,” she captioned a video of her performing the track on the piano. “I believe in us though, I believe in the way we are showing up for each other and caring about each other. The way that we are all connected more than we’ve ever been before. This is for you. You’re doing a good job! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 ⁣.”
“Endless love to @therealswizzzand @thekingdream and @avenuebeatz for creating these beautiful words and music with me 💜💜Thank you@CNN,” Alicia concluded.
