Mick Fleetwod teamed up with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson on stage on March 4 at Fleetwood’s On Front St., a restaurant and bar owned by Fleetwood in Maui, Hawaii, to perform the 1940s rhythm and blues standard “(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66.” The live appearance was one of the first times Johnson has returned to a stage since departing AC/DC in 2016 over fear of losing his hearing. His doctors told him he faced total hearing loss if he continued to perform live. “On stage, it was getting harder and harder to hear the guitars, even hear the keys, and I was basically going on muscle memory,” he said. “And I’m not the kind of guy who likes to cheat. The way I look at it, I had a great run.” He’s expressed hope that a new type of in-ear monitor might alleviate that issue. “My entire focus is to continue medical treatment to improve my hearing. I am hoping that in time my hearing will improve and allow me to return to live concert performances. While the outcome is uncertain, my attitude is optimistic.” Copyright(c) 2018 RTTNews.com.
