The U.S. Postal Service has released a commemorative stamp honoring John Lennon. The stamp, featuring a photo of the Beatles legend taken by Bob Gruen from the Walls and Bridges photo session in 1974, is designed to look like a 45-rpm record sleeve. The stamp was unveiled at a ceremony held in New York City’s Central Park on Friday. Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, their son Sean Lennon, and Gruen spoke at the ceremony, where hundreds of Beatles fans gathered. “When John died, I said there will be no funeral . John is going to be forever,” said Ono. “The most complaint I have is he’s not here. But he’s somewhere in the sky, I think,” she added. “I know that my father would have been really thrilled to be accepted, officially in this way, on a stamp,” Sean Lennon said.
