Erykah Badu Reacts To Uproar Over ‘Prayer’ For R. Kelly

Erykah Badu has attempted to clarify her views on R. Kelly after she was severely criticized for offering a prayer for the controversial singer during a concert in Chicago. “I love you. Unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I support your poor choices. I want healing for you and anyone you have hurt as a result of you being hurt,” Badu tweeted. “Is that strange to you? That’s all I’ve ever said. Anything else has been fabricated or taken out of context.” During her performance on stage at the Aragon Ballroom on Saturday, Badu told fans that she was going to pray for Kelly. “I hope he sees the light of day if he’s done all those things that we’ve seen on TV and heard those ladies talk about,” she said. “I hope he sees the light of day and comes forward.” “But y’all say ‘f- it!’ See, that’s not love. That’s not unconditional. But what if one of the people that was assaulted by R. Kelly grows up to be an offender, we gonna crucify them? I mean how do we do this? Just something to think about,” Badu continued. Badu’s comments about Kelly come at a time when almost all the artists in the music industry have raised their voice against the singer for his controversial history. In the Lifetime docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, several women accused the R&B singer of sexual abuse and pedophilia. Copyright(c) 2019 All Rights ReservedLess «
