James Mason, the former manager of embattled R&B superstar R. Kelly, surrendered himself to authorities on Friday on a warrant for felony terroristic threats. Mason was wanted for allegedly making threats to a family of a young woman who is believed to be involved with Kelly. Mason allegedly threatened Timothy Savage, the father of Joycelyn, who is living with Kelly. Savage claims his daughter is being held against her will by Kelly and Mason threatened him for speaking out about it. Timothy and his wife Jonjelyn Savage appeared in the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly. “Let this be a message to R. Kelly’s staff that we won’t be bullied or threatened. We will continue to pursue legal action against any and all threats to the safety of the Savage family,” said Gerald Griggs, attorney for the Savage family, in a statement to WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta. Mason was later released on a $10,000 bond, according to reports. The documentary series featured allegations against Kelly from several women , including that he operates a sex cult in which he physically and emotionally abuses women and keeps them from their families. Meanwhile, Kelly’s representatives say the women who live and travel with him are doing so voluntarily and that he has not abused any of them.
