Through all of the ups and downs of his life, which are chronicled in the new Showtime documentary Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bars, Eric Clapton says that music was able to bring him out of the dark. From battles with drug and alcohol in addition to the tragic death of his son Conor in 1991, Clapton admits that through it all, he always had music to turn to. “Listening to music became just as important as being able to play,” he tells Rolling Stone. “During all of those periods of my life, I found new or old music that helped me, that got me through even when I wasn’t playing well or I wasn’t playing at all. It might be Maria Callas singing or the playing of [Delta bluesman] Tommy McClennan. I remember coming out of the smack period [in the early Seventies] – anything I heard would reduce me to tears, especially if it came from the heart. The music from Carousel still does bring me to tears.” Eric Clapton: Life In 12 Bars debuted in theatres last month. Copyright(c) 2017 RTTNews.com. All Rights ReservedLess «
