In an interview with the magazine’s editor in chief, the 52-year-old singer shares her views about beauty. “It’s vulnerability. It’s power. It’s confidence,” according to Jackson. The singer also discussed becoming a mother at 50, her life as a single parent, her late brother Michael Jackson, her long struggle with self-esteem, and how she learned to love her body after spending a lifetime in the limelight. At one stage of the conversation Jackson admitted that she once hated her smile: “I Looked Like the Joker.” She also revealed that it wasn’t until her 30s that she felt sexy. “I got out of a funky relationship and finally got back to me. I went to therapy, which was all about finding that thing you like about yourself. The realization that, you know what, you’re not so bad after all,” she told Laura Brown.
