Pop superstar Ariana Grande has been sued for posting photos of herself on social media. According to court documents obtained by E! News, professional photographer Robert Barbera has filed a lawsuit against the singer claiming copyright infringement. Barbera says Grande posted pictures on Instagram that he had captured without licensing. Barbera also said the singer didn’t have his “permission or consent to publish the photographs.” The Instagram post at issue is one which Grande posted back in August to celebrate the release of her album Sweetener. The image shows Grande in casual clothing with a bag that bore the word “Sweetener,” while the image was captioned with the phrase, “happy Sweetener day”. The post, which has since been deleted, received more than three million likes. The plaintiff is looking for monetary relief from the copyright infringement, attorney fees and costs, falsifying copyright management, statutory damages up to $25,000 for each violation and punitive.
