Police in Georgia are looking for a woman who recently gave birth to a baby. Somehow, this newborn ended up in a grocery bag. First responders discovered the baby alive, abandoned on the side of a road in Georgia.

A police body cam captured the moment when searchers discovered the baby.

The search for the baby began when neighbors heard the sound of a baby crying in a field.

They found the baby and named her Baby India.

The umbilical cord was still attached to the newborn.

On Tuesday, the police in Georgia released portions of the footage from the body cam. They hope the video will help lead investigators in pursuit of the case.

We are releasing parts of the footage from the body camera worn by the first FCSO Deputy on scene the night Baby India was discovered, Thursday June 6th, 2019. We release this footage in hopes to receive credible information on the identity of Baby India and to show how important it is to find closure in this case.

Georgia is one of many states, like Utah, where a mother can drop off a newborn to any on-duty staff member of any hospital 24/7, no questions asked. Under the Utah Safe Haven Law, the mother can choose to remain anonymous. She will not be reported, investigated, considered for criminal prosecution.
