In another blow to Queen Elizabeth II, her nephew Earl of Snowdon has announced his royal divorce. The royal divorce is a shock to many because the Earl and Countess of Snowdon have been married for 26 years.

Announced in a statement issued by the couple, they said they have “amicably agreed” to royally divorce. After more than 25 years and two children together they have agreed it is time to go their separate ways.

The couple has asked for the press and public to respect their privacy and that of their families through their royal divorce. David Armstrong-Jones, who is the 21st in line to the royal throne, founded his own company making bespoke furniture in 1985. He has written a few books about furniture and styling within the home.

The news comes just days after the Queen’s eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, and his wife Autumn announced they were also splitting up.

Last week, Peter Phillips confirmed in a statement that they had separated and will share custody of their children Savannah and Isla. The couple told the Queen and the royal family members about their decision last year.
