COVID-19 has halted many music production plans, but hasn’t stopped Alesso and Liam Payne from recording a music video together.

Despite tour cancellations and album pushbacks, the Grammy-nominated DJ-producer and former One Direction singer couldn’t be stopped from recording their music video. Instead, they filmed it remotely and separately — editing the two together.

And for what they were working with, it’s not that bad.

The duo joined forces for a new dance song “Midnight.” But, because they were both practicing social distancing and quarantining at their respective homes they decided to approach it a little differently.

Alesso went back to the Los Angeles studio where he originally created the track to film his portion of the video. Payne, who lives in London, had a friend film him singing on his balcony.

The song “Midnight” was released Wednesday, so the video is just an extra treat to keep fans happy while cooped up inside.

“During these difficult times Liam and I hope this song can bring some light,” Alesso said in a statement.

In fact, the dynamic duo is calling on fans to do their own remix, homemade music video to the song — tagging the stars or DMing what they come up with to be included in the eventual remix.

“Just like everyone else, we’re trying to figure out a way to finish this song and video,” Alesso said. “We came up with this idea for fans to be a part of the official remix… We never thought there were gonna be so many people submitting, which makes this super, super exciting.”
