Great news for all Hamilton fans as the film’s first trailer gets released. Along with the first “Hamilton” trailer, Disney+ revealed that the film will be available to stream on July 3, 2020.
Hit Broadway production
Fans were first given a glimpse into the upcoming film during the 2020 ESPYs. In the new trailer, you can see more of the cast’s performances including Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo, Daveed Diggs, and more as they perform the musical’s theme “Alexander Hamilton.” The producer of the Tony Award-winner musical, Lin-Manuel Miranda, was eager to share the news with excited fans.
He took to Twitter to share the trailer, with the caption “May you always be satisfied…”
The filmed version features the original cast and gives viewers a unique look at the Richard Rogers theater during June, 2016. With the Disney plus partnership, the film will be able to be enjoyed on both big and little screens. This brings the excitement of the Broadway hit to everyone’s home.
“In light of the extraordinary challenges facing our world, this story about leadership, tenacity, hope, love and the power of people to unite against the forces of adversity is both relevant and impactful.” – Bob Iger (Disney Executive Chairman)
In addition to the large number of accolades the musical has received, Iger would also state Hamilton’s impact. “No other artistic work in the last decade has had the cultural impact of Hamilton—an inspiring and captivating tale told and performed in a powerfully creative way.”
He continued to explain that the new release date comes over a year before planned.”We are thrilled to bring this phenomenon to Disney+ on the eve of Independence Day, and we have the brilliant Lin-Manuel Miranda and the team behind Hamilton to thank for allowing us to do so more than a year before planned.”
